Increasing Your Time by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro

Earlier this morning I watched an older sermon and message about how to increase your time, incidentally adding value to your life, by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro.

This message was very inspirational and got me thinking about how I spend what few hours I have a day that is not cluttered by work, commuting, getting ready, cooking or eating, and sleeping.  He boiled down our week to and average of 5 hours a day that we have to invest in things that only we could invest in, things that no one else can do, and things that we will be held accountable for when we stand before God.

Time, a commodity that we can neither purchase or save.  We each have a certain supply of it.  Though it may be true that there is 24 hours in a day, and 365 days in a year, we do not all have the same amount of time.  Some of us, for whatever reason, will have only 30 years of time, others shorter, and still others what we consider a full lifetime.  The amount of time we each have, we do not know.  But what we do know and control is our today, and how we choose to spend what precious time we have been given of our day.

Pastor Wayne Cordeiro gives us an acrostic of TIME.  They stand for:

T - Treasure Principle
I - Investment Principle
M - Multiplication Value
E - Enjoyment Principle

Without giving it all away, let me one key elements and a value I have taken from this message on increasing the time we have.

We all know that time is precious, or at least is it is something we should know.  Most of us do, but it does not translate to action and we often get stuck doing something that truly has no value, no eternal value, or even value in the sense that it brings meaning to our lives.  Time is not something we should squander on 3 hours of television, or video games, or being in a bar drinking.  I've personally struggled with this, I've struggled with alcohol and drinking for a long time and have been in a process of changing my habits with help from a class and support group called Celebrate Recovery.  I've struggled with video games, I play and play, but what do I get in return?  So I'm changing my habits because I am seeing a bigger and more important value on time and how I spend it.  A big part of this is that I believe their is a Heaven and a Hell, I believe that there are consequences and benefits to our actions, and I want to be a person who chooses to make eternal choices (or choices with eternal value).

This is just some things I've heard and am learning from his teaching.  To watch and hear his sermon on increasing your time, please click and listen to Pastor Wayne Cordeiro .
